What does a website cost in Calgary?
Real ranges for business websites, e-commerce and landing pages — and the six things that actually move the number.
Prices reflect the Calgary and Alberta market. Last reviewed September 2026.
The short answer
A small business website in Calgary typically costs between $2,500 and $8,000. E-commerce usually starts around $6,000 and runs to $20,000 or more depending on catalogue size. A single campaign landing page is generally $800 to $2,000.
Anything under about $1,500 for a full site is either a template with your logo dropped in, or someone doing it as a first job. Both can be fine — provided you know that is what you are buying.
What the market charges
| Landing page | $800 – $2,000 — one page, one offer, one action |
|---|---|
| Small business site (5–8 pages) | $2,500 – $6,000 |
| Larger business site (10–25 pages) | $6,000 – $15,000 |
| E-commerce, small catalogue | $6,000 – $14,000 |
| E-commerce, large or complex | $15,000 – $40,000+ |
| Web application or portal | $15,000 – $60,000+, quoted after discovery |
| Care plan and hosting | $60 – $300 / month depending on the site |
| Logo and brand kit (often bundled) | $900 – $3,500 |
The six things that move the price
- Number of pages — but more importantly, how many are genuinely different rather than the same layout repeated
- Custom design versus template — a designed site costs more and looks like your business rather than a theme
- Content — who writes it. Client-supplied copy lowers the price; agency-written copy raises it and usually improves the result
- Photography — stock is free and looks it; a shoot adds cost and lifts every channel
- Functionality — booking, payments, memberships, calculators and integrations each add real build time
- Migration — moving an existing site with earned search positions needs redirect work nobody sees but everyone notices if it is skipped
What should be included at any price
- Mobile-first build — most of your traffic is on a phone
- Reasonable speed, tested on mobile data rather than office wifi
- Analytics and conversion tracking installed at launch
- Basic on-page SEO — titles, headings, sitemap, structured data
- You owning the site, the domain, the hosting login and the files
- Training so you can change text, images, hours and prices yourself
If a quote does not include those, it is not cheaper — it is unfinished.
Ongoing costs people forget
| Domain | $20 – $40 / year |
|---|---|
| Hosting | $15 – $60 / month for most small business sites |
| SSL certificate | Usually included with hosting |
| Care plan | $60 – $300 / month for updates, backups, security and small changes |
| Premium plugins or licences | $0 – $500 / year depending on what the build needs |
A site left completely unmaintained for a year is usually slower, less secure and broken in two or three places nobody has noticed.
Do you need a new site, or a fix?
Often the existing site can be fixed for a fraction of a rebuild. A rebuild is genuinely warranted when the site is unusably slow, cannot be edited, is not mobile-friendly, or sits on a platform nobody can support any more.
Any agency worth hiring will tell you which of those applies, even though a rebuild is worth more to them.
