Frequently Asked Questions

Answered the way we would answer them on the phone — including the ones agencies usually avoid.

Cost and commitment
01.How much does this cost?

It depends on scope, and any agency quoting before hearing your situation is guessing. What we can promise is the shape: a written, fixed quote with each line itemised before any work starts, and GST shown separately rather than folded into the total.

Small pieces of work — a logo, a landing page, a month of social — sit at the low end. Ongoing search and advertising work is quoted as a monthly management fee, with your ad budget paid separately and directly to Google or Meta.

02.Do I have to sign a long contract?

No. Retainers run month to month after any agreed initial term — usually three months, because nothing meaningful can be judged in less than that. Project work is quoted as a one-off with no ongoing commitment at all.

03.Is my ad budget included in your fee?

No, and the separation is deliberate. Google and Meta bill your card directly for media spend. Our management fee is a fixed amount for running the account, so we have no financial incentive to push you toward a bigger budget.

04.What is the smallest budget worth starting with?

There is no universal figure, but there is a test: your monthly ad budget should buy enough enquiries that one or two conversions cover it. If a customer is worth $200 and enquiries cost $50, a tiny budget will not produce enough data to optimise on.

If your budget is genuinely small, fixing your Google Business Profile, reviews and website usually returns more than advertising would.

05.How do I pay?

Interac e-Transfer is preferred and carries no fee. Cheques are accepted. Credit card payments carry a 2.4% processing surcharge, disclosed before you pay rather than added afterward.

Timing and results
06.How long before I see results?

Paid advertising produces data within one to two weeks and stabilises over four to eight. SEO shows first signals at four to eight weeks and meaningful movement at three to six months. Social media takes a full month to establish a rhythm.

Anyone promising first-page rankings in thirty days is either buying links that will eventually be penalised, or counting a search term nobody types.

07.What if it does not work?

Then we say so in the monthly report rather than waiting for you to notice. Sometimes the answer is a different channel, sometimes a different offer, and occasionally that the market for what you are selling is not where we are looking.

We would rather recommend cutting our own scope than keep billing for something that is not earning its place.

08.Can you guarantee rankings or a number of leads?

No, and be careful with anyone who does. Nobody controls Google’s results or a competitor’s budget. What we can commit to is the work, the tracking, the reporting, and honesty about what the numbers show.

09.What happens if I stop?

Advertising stops producing the day it is switched off. SEO decays more slowly — the pages you have earned keep working for a while, though competitors will eventually pass you. Your website, artwork and accounts remain yours regardless.

Working together
10.Who owns the website and ad accounts?

You do, once the invoice is paid. Ad accounts are built under your own business identity where the platform allows it, and you keep administrator access throughout. If you ever leave, nothing has to be rebuilt from scratch.

11.Can you take over an account someone else set up?

Usually yes, and it is often the fastest win available. We start with an audit of what exists — wasted spend, missing tracking, keywords bleeding budget, campaigns nobody has touched in a year — and fix that before proposing anything new.

12.What do you need from me to get started?

A conversation, access to whatever already exists, your logo files, and photos of your work or premises. If you do not have decent photos, say so — that is often the first thing worth fixing.

13.How often will I hear from you?

A written report every month, plus a review call for retainer clients. Beyond that, as much or as little as you want. Some clients want a weekly note, others prefer to be left alone unless something needs a decision.

14.Do you work with businesses outside Calgary?

Yes. We are Calgary-based and can meet locally in person, but most work is done remotely and we have clients elsewhere in Alberta and beyond. Local SEO for another city works exactly the same way — it just needs research into that market first.

15.Will you work with my competitor?

Not in the same category and service area at the same time. Bidding two clients against each other on the same keywords raises both their costs and helps neither.

16.Do you only work with certain industries?

No. The industry pages on this site are examples, not limits. The underlying work is the same whatever you sell — what changes is the research we do into your specific market before anything is built.

Websites and design
17.Can I update the website myself afterward?

Yes — that is the point. Sites are built so you can change text, images, hours and prices without calling anyone, and we walk you through it at handover. Bigger structural changes are still worth handing to us, but nothing routine should require a developer.

18.Do I need a new website, or can you fix mine?

Often it can be fixed, and we will say so even though a rebuild would be worth more to us. A rebuild is genuinely warranted when the site is unusably slow, cannot be edited, is not mobile-friendly, or sits on a platform nobody can support.

19.How many revisions do I get on design work?

Up to three rounds. A round means one consolidated set of feedback rather than three separate emails across a week. Additional rounds are quoted before they begin, so the fixed price stays fixed.

20.Do you do printing as well?

For existing clients, yes — cards, flyers, menus and signage produced from artwork we already hold, so nothing has to be rebuilt by an outside shop. It is a convenience for people we already work with rather than a service we market on its own.

Still have a question?

Ask it directly. You will get a straight answer, not a proposal document.
